The ‘Gateway to North-East India’, Guwahati city gets its first-ever ‘Human Milk Bank’ in the Northeastern states.
The bank has been set up with the assistance of the Guwahati Lion’s Club and Rotary Foundation at Satribari Christian Hospital. The Milk Bank was inaugurated on Wednesday morning and will assist newborn and premature babies.
Speaking to media, an official said, “the Human Milk Bank in Guwahati is the 15th in the entire country. Our under-5 mortalities are about 58, which is one of the highest. This Human Milk bank will help in reducing the under 5 mortality rate upto 10.
