The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) on Friday issued a public notification mentioning the closure of the Guwahati ropeway.
The Guwahati ropeway which connects Guwahati with North Guwahati will remain closed from December 7 to December 11, 2020.
The temporary closure will be for the maintenance of the ropeway combined with a mock drill of the rescue system.
The Guwahati ropeway which is India’s longest will resume as usual from December 12, 2020. It was launched on August 24, 2020, connecting the northern and southern banks of the Brahmaputra river. However, just two days after it was closed due to a technical snag and reopened again on August 31. The entire project has been built at the cost of Rs. 56 crores.
