News Desk: Flood season hits Assam almost every year, affecting millions of people but this time the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has worsened the situation and pushed the already-vulnerable people to higher risks.
Team, People For People, comprising of youths and young professionals from different parts of Assam decided to come forward and help the vulnerable and affected people during this time. The team was originally formed during the Baghjan Blowout Tragedy when all of them came together through mutual contacts or social media as they were very keen on helping the people affected severely by this tragedy.
The team members also decided to never associate with any political party or organization and to only work for the betterment of the lesser privileged ones, in any way they can. They asked for donations through social media to their immediate contacts and any other interested people. Within a span of 4 days, they have managed to collect an amount of Rs.1,19000 and also got donations in the form of clothes, food supplies and other basic necessities, eventually leading to a successful completion of the relief drive.
This time, they have united again and started a fundraising campaign in collaboration with milaap.org to raise funds for the flood relief drive. The donation link is open till 15th of July. They are also accepting donations in the form of essential goods such as clothes, dry food products, hygiene products etc. Anyone who wish to donate can contact any of the team members or the contact details provided below and rest will be taken care of.
As Assam floods are rarely covered by the National media houses even though the destruction is on a massive scale, so the team is trying their best to spread awareness about this issue through social media and other forms of communication. So far, the team People for People have got an amazing response from many people and managed to collect more than 1 lakh rupees in just 4 days. But, still have a long way to go before they reach their estimated goal of 3 lakh rupees.
Kallolini Baruah, on behalf of the entire team, requests everyone to come forward and support them in this endeavor by donating to them or spreading awareness about their campaign and make this relief drive a successful one, for the sake of humanity.
