Hike in fuel prices for 9th consecutive day

15th June, Guwahati: State-run oil marketing companies hiked fuel prices for ninth consecutive days. There has been an increase in fuel price all over the country. The price hike vary from state to state depending on Local sales tax or VAT. According to reports, in mid-March the freeze in rates was imposed soon after the government hiked excise duty on petrol and diesel to shore up additional finances.

Indian Oil Corp (IOC), Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL), instead of passing the excise duty hikes to customers, adjusted them against the fall in the retail rates that was warranted because of a decline in international oil prices.

On Monday, with an increase of ₹ 0.15 petrol price is now ₹ 81.56 per litre in Assam. And with a decrease of ₹ 0.02 diesel price is now ₹ 74.53 per litre.
In Shillong, petrol price is now ₹ 79.76 per litre with an increase of ₹ 0.49. And the diesel price is ₹ 72.49 per litre with an increase of ₹ 0.56.
