In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sarbanada Sonowal on February 10, it was decided that “Dhing Express” Hima Das will be appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Assam.
In addition, the cabinet also decided that sportspersons from Assam would be appointed as Class-I and Class-II officers in various departments of the state like- Police, Excise, Transport, etc.
It was decided in the cabinet meeting that besides appointing Hima Das as a DSP rank officer in the Assam Police, medal winners in Olympics, Asian, and Commonwealth Games will be appointed as Class-I officers.
The ace sprinter thanked the government for the decision in a tweet.
