Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday announced that a total of 37,000 girls who obtained First (1st) Division in Assam State Higher Secondary (HS) examination will be provided with scooters by the state government.
During a press conference at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati on Monday, the minister announced that the delivery of the scooters will be done in three different phases.
In the first phase, scooters will be provided to girl students who have passed with 1st division in the year 2020-21. A total of 22,000 scooters will be provided during the first phase by the end of December month this year.
A total of 5000 girl students who have passed the state HS examination attaining First division in the academic year of 2018-19 will also be provided with scooters.
The 10,000 students who have also passed gaining First Division in the academic year 2019-20 will also get scooters.
However, the delivery of their scooters has been delayed, and are likely to obtain them by the end of January or February next year.
The Education Minister also informed that the State Government will provide all the required pieces of stuff like G.S.T, Insurance, and Registration fees.
