Himanta Biswa Sarma: COVID-19 Cases In Assam Declining Considerably

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a press meet on Tuesday at Janata Bhawan said that the number of COVID-19 cases has been declining in the state. In the past week, the positivity rate has fallen considerably.

The Finance Minister stated that the number of new cases has been declining and also there has been a rise in the number of daily testings.

The average positivity rate from October 6 to October 12 was 5.8 percent. On October 12, the positivity rate of the state was 1.4 percent.

The minister also said that in the last three days, the government has conducted 1 lakh tests daily.
The Absolute number of cases has also come down. The number of active cases now is about 28,000 and the daily case number is also declining. The recovery rate of COVID-19 cases in the state has now touched 85 percent.

Himanta Biswa Sarma further added the COVID-19 tests in the state will now reach 40 lakhs which is a great achievement for Assam. The per million testing rate is also very high at about 1,14000.
Considering Guwahati city, the government has tested 6 lakh people out of the total population of 10 lakhs.
