The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday released their election manifesto for the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections scheduled to be held on December 7 and 10.
The party manifesto was formally released at Tribeni Bhawan, Kokrajhar in presence of NEDA Convener Himanta Biswa Sarma, BJP state President Ranjeet Dass, BJP Central Secretary Dilip Saikia, and former Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) leader Biswajit Daimary.
Addressing the media, the state finance minister said that the party underlined a few important issues. During the meet, he stated, “Our party is confident that we will form the next government in BTC and we will be successful in eradication the corruption in BTC.”
“The party will work for the implementation of the BTR Accord and villages in the border area will have their freedom to join or leave the BTC. Assamese and Bodo language will be given equal importance and both languages will be taken forward along with other languages.” Dr. Sarma said.
He further said that the BJP party is going to support independent candidates in constituencies where their party will not represent its own candidates.
“People from BTC living in government land will get the rights to acquire land pattas and also the permission process for buying and selling of land in BTC will be swift and completed within one month.” He added.

The manifesto further stated the plans to construct a campus of Bodoland University in Udalguri, a medical college in Tamulpur, hospitals with the provision of 30 beds in each constituency, and also the construction of 40 stadiums if BJP party comes to power. The party also assured construction of high schools in tea gardens of BTC area.
The party also promised benefits of Rs. 50,000 and additional funds to all self-help groups.
The state Finance minister also strongly criticized BPF supremo Hagrama Mohilary for the misuse of development funds.
