General Secretary of right-wing group Bajrang Dal, Mithu Nath while speaking at an event in Assam’s Cachar district on Thursday made a very controversial religious statement.

During the event, he said, “If Hindus go and visit churches on Christmas day, they will get brutally thrashed.” This outrage by the General Secretary was due to the recent shut down of Vivekananda Centre in Christian majority Meghalaya.
“They are shutting down our temples in Shillong and we are celebrating their festivals. This cannot happen and we will never allow it to happen.” Mithu Nath stated.

“All the Hindus who will visit churches will be beaten because I condemn those Hindus who go to churches and have fun during Christmas after they (Christians) shut down our places of worship.” the district GS further added.
