On World Population Day, which was on Monday (11July), Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on Twitter “reaffirm our commitment for population stabilisation by reducing infant mortality, ensuring maternal health, strengthening family planning methods etc.”
The state’s sex ratio is anticipated to increase from the present ratio of 958 to 976 as aresult of the population growth. According to the estimate, there would be 1,94,64,000 women and 1,99,35,000 men living in the world in 2036, respectively.
The predicted rate of population growth in Manipur is between 10-20%
By 2036, there would be an increase of about 53 lakh older people (60+) living in the state, due to an increase in life expectancy of 6.2 years for females and 6 years for males. The percentage of residents in the state who are 60+ or older will rise to over 13% in the following 14 years. A decrease in infant and under-five mortality rates will also aid in the
population’s advancement.
According to the survey, Himachal Pradesh (6%) and Tamil Nadu (8%) are the states that are predicted to make the least improvement between 2011 and 2036. In contrast, Delhi may expect to make the best anticipated progress throughout the time frame of 98%.
Manipur’s population is expected to grow in the northeast between 10-20% ,while that of Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Arunachal is expected to increase by more over 30 percent during that time.
