The Indian Army’s outreach programme assisted 25 Assam students in obtaining jobs in various renowned hotels across the country, according to Defence authorities.
According to Defence Spokesman Lt. Col. A.S. Walia, earlier this year, the Indian Army organised an outreach programme in Tamulpur to register youth for Hotel Management Courses under the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission (ASRLM), and several students attended the event.
He stated that 25 selected students were enrolled, sponsored by ASRLM, and further taught by Pragati EduTech in Silchar before being relocated to Guwahati following this year’s floods.
After completing the course in the first week of September, all 25 students were placed at prestigious hotels around the country, including Hyatt, Oberoi, IBIS, and many more, with fair pay, according to Lt. Col. Walia.
According to a Defence official, the Indian Army’s outreach programmes have raised awareness among students from Assam’s remote areas about employment opportunities across the country. Students and parents appreciated the gesture of creating opportunities and continuing monitoring throughout the course.
The Indian Army has also carried out a number of outreach programmes in Assam, including the Skill Development Mela, training for Agniveer recruiting, and admissions to the National Defence Academy, Indian Military Academy, and Officers Training Academy.
