News Desk: After an employee had been tested COVID-19 positive, a part of the Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Office was declared as Quarantine zone on Tuesday.
Jitumoni Sharma, a grade IV employee of the DC office has been tested positive for COVID-19. Following which the building to the East of the main DC office building has been declared as containment zone. The building includes Land Acquisition and NRC branches.
Roshni A Korati, the Jorhat Deputy Commissioner confirmed that 8 new cases have been confirmed in Jorhat district on Tuesday. The DC also said that all the employees of the branch has been asked to self-quarantine themselves at home and will be tested soon.
It has been confirmed that Sarma did not have any travel history. He has been sent to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) and his wife and child have been isolated in a lodge in Jorhat.
Meanwhile, the district administration has filed an FIR against Manas Dutta and Leemashree Baruah for organizing a marriage ceremony violating the rules of COVID-19. A case has been registered under section 3 of Epidemic Diseases Act 1897, 51(b) of the Disaster Management Act 2005, and 188 of the IPC.
