The Kaziranga National Park will open for tourists from October 2. This was confirmed by the chief warden of Wildlife Branch of the Assam Forest Deparment MK Yadav on Monday, September 25.
Further reacting on the controversy surrounding the night safari ride taken by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with spiritual leader Sadhguru, said, “There is no restriction for the Chief Minister from entering inside the park.”
Notably, two activists filed a police complaint against CM Sarma, spiritual leader Sadhguru, and state tourism minister Jayanta Malla Baruah on Saturday September 24, alleging they violated the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, by entering the national park after the designated visit time.
However, CM Sarma countering the allegations said, "There is no infringement. The warden may provide authorization to access a protected area, even at night, in accordance with wildlife law. Nobody is prohibited from entering at night by law. The park was formally inaugurated yesterday, and Sadhguru and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar have just arrived. Since they have thousands of followers, we anticipate that this year's tourism season in Kaziranga will be excellent.
