Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the new flyover which will connect Maligaon with Kamakhya Gate and Pandu.
The four-lane flyover is expected to be the longest in the State. Assam PWD (Roads) under the State Owned Development Scheme will be initiating the construction at an estimated cost of Rs. 420.75 crores. The flyover which is nearly 3 kilometres long is targeted to be completed within two years.
Sarbananda Sonowal during the addressing said that the rapid infrastructure development in the city will make Guwahati the gateway to South East Asia. The infrastructure development is Assam’s top priority to make the state one of the best states in India.
Sonowal also added that the State Capital Region Plan, Guwahati will be expanded from all four sides.
Himanta Biswa Sarma also added that it will help in reducing traffic and also lead to smooth movement of people and vehicles.
