The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) General Secretary (GS) Lurinjyoti Gogoi resigned from his post during the 17th General Convention of AASU in Duliajan, Assam.
The General Secretary of AASU announced his retirement from the post on late Saturday night.
Executive member of the student’s body, Sankar Jyoti Baruah will now take the charge as the new General Secretary.
The former GS of AASU on Saturday night while announcing his resignation at the Duliajan conference got emotional.

Chief Adviser of AASU, Samujjal Bhattacharya earlier announced his retirement from the students’ body. However, Bhattacharya had decided to deliberate over his decision over quitting the union.
There was also much conjecture of AASU President, Dipankar Nath’s retirement. However, the President has made no such announcement.
