Counting of votes for the Assam municipal Election 2022 is underway. BJP is in lead with 74 Municipal Boards out of 80 that include 296 wards. Asom Gana Parishad is in lead with 2 municipal boards.
At Dhemaji the polling went for 10 wards among which 7 in wards BJP won 7 wards the names of the winning candidates are: Deep Rekha Das baghri (Ward no 2), Pratima Das (ward no 3), Nibediuta Das deori (Ward no 4), Bijaya Kakati (Ward no 5), Rintu Dutta (Ward no 7), Ramesh narah (Ward no 9), biplab Konwar (Ward no 10). and AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) won 1 with its leader rinku Gogoi Konwar in Ward no 1. For two other wards Nalini Chutia and Hiranya Konwar won for Ward no 8 and Ward no 6 independently. Asom Gana Parishad is in lead with 2 municipal boards. On the other hand Congress is ahead with 33 wards.
Nalbari Municipal has also come under BJP. Among all the 17 wards BJP won 15 while AGP won 2. Again at Karimganj among 27 wards 23 won by BJP and Congress won 3 wards. The rest wards won uncontested.
Assam Municipal Election 2022 was held on 6 March. The polling took place for 80 Municipal boards including 920 wards. According to officials a total of 2532 candidates were in the fray, while candidates of 77 wards were declared uncontested. This time for the first time in Assam the EVM machine is used in the Municipal Election.
