Tensions prevailed at Mariani in the Assam-Nagaland border after the Nagaland police threatened to shoot down Assamese farmers while they were on their way to the Nagajanka Bortolgaon paddy field to harvest crops.

The Assamese people in the border area are anguished by the terror created by the Nagaland police.

On the other hand, the blockade on the National Highway 702D which connects the commercial town Mariani with Mokokchung, Nagaland by Mariani-based organizations still continues.

Meanwhile, the Jorhat district administration is demanding the withdrawal of the Nagaland police camp from the disrupted area.
