The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches in 17 locations across Assam on Sunday and A woman CPI (Maoist) leader has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday, in the district Dibrugarh.
The NIA have also arrested an evading Naxal in the Cachar district. During the search some digital devices and incriminating documents have been seized.
The Maoist leader, identified as Reema Orang alias Saraswati, had been on the run for a long time.
The search was conducted in the 17 districts of Assam including Cachar, Karimganj, Dibrugarh and Dhuburi.
It is noted that the case was related to Naxal leader Arun Kumar Bhattacharjee alias Kanchan Da, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), and his associate Akash Orang alias Kajal, a member of the Assam State Organizing Committee of the CPI (Maoist), who were arrested on March 6th, from Patimara tea garden under Udarband Police station of Cachar district.
