The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi expressed his grief over the demise of former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “Shri Tarun Gogoi Ji was a popular leader and a veteran administrator, who had years of political experience in Assam as well as the Centre. Anguished by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this hour of sadness. Om Shanti.”

Veteran congressman and former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi passed away at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Guwahati on Monday. He was 86. Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while speaking to the media, confirmed that the former CM who was suffering from multi-organ failure passed away at around 5:34 pm.
