In a tragic incident 3 members of a family died in Sonari in Dibrugarh, Assam after eating mushroom. The incident took place on Monday night. The deceased were identified as Sampa Karmakar, Surmai Karmakar and Rita Keot. They were undergoing treatment at the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) since April 7 and later died.
The family consumed poisonous mushroom after which they fell sick and were taken to the AMCH.
Doctors had earlier informed that the patients were not responding well to treatment. The family were the native of Lali Pathar Gaon in Sonari.
It is also mentioned that another 4 persons from the tea garden community from Sonari, Charaideo, Assam died at AMCH after eating poisonous mushroom.
The deceased have been identified as Rima Karmakar (35), Jonaki Proja (32), Chayanika Karmakar (12) and Ajay Karmakar (10). They were the residents from the village Laloti Pathar, a village in Sonari.
