In another incident of police firing a drug peddler has been injured after police opened gun fire on him. The incident took place on Friday in Juria in Nagaon, Assam.
The injured has been identified as Moijul Islam from whose possession the police seized around 750 grams of heroin. The seized heroin has a market value worth around Rs 7 crores.
The police took Moijul to his residence at Kadamani Pathar in Juria for further investigation. Taking advantage of darkness, Moijul hit the police with a sharp weapon. In order to defend themselves, the police opened gun fire and shot at his leg.
Moijul has been sent to the Bhugeswari Phukanani Civil Hospital in Nagaon for his further treatment. However the doctors have referred him to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
