Assam Finance Minister and North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convener Himanta Biswa Sarma during his public meeting at Saraibil in Chirang district alleged that political murders were committed during Hagrama Mohilary’s rule in BTC.
The minister also stated that All Bodoland Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) leader Lafikul Islam was murdered for political cause.
During the public meeting at Saraibil under Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), the Education Minister said, “During Hagrama Mohilary’s rule in BTC, political murders were commenced. Lafikul Islam was murdered for a political reason. We want to maintain peace and democracy in Assam state.”
“The culprits responsible for Lafikul’s death will be identified within two months after BJP comes to power in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).” the politician added.
On August 1, Lafikul Islam the then ABMSU President was shot dead in Titaguri Market in Kokrajhar district by two unidentified miscreants. The murder sparked widespread protest across the district and his murder case was handed over to CBI.
