In a tragic incident, Pratidin Time journalist Parag Bhuyan was killed in a hit-and-run case on Wednesday night near his residence at Kakopathar in Tinsukia.
The journalist was admitted to Aditya Nursing Home in Dibrugarh in critical condition, however, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
Parag Bhuyan was a reputed journalist and Vice-President of the Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association and was the brother of Assam Jatiya Parishad Co-ordinator Jagadish Bhuyan.
It is suspected that he was attacked by miscreants assisted by Dipanjali Moran, a BJP party worker. Bhuyan has previously brought many corruptions of political leaders to light.
Following the instruction of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for swift investigation on the Bhuyan’s death, Tinsukia district Superintendent of Police has seized a vehicle alleged to have hit the journalist.
Tinsukia Police has apprehended the driver and handyman of the vehicle bearing registration number AS 23 BC 7881.
Expressing grief over the demise of Bhuyan, CM Sonowal on Twitter stated, “Saddened to learn about the untimely demise of Parag Bhuyan, a reputed journalist and Vice-President of Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association.
