13th June, Guwahati: After almost a gap of 80 days due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the officials have announced to re-open private bus services from June 15. Keeping in mind the norms of the Covid-19 State Government issued rules that only 50percent of passengers will be allowed in a bus.
The officials announced that it is mandatory to keep sanitizers along with soap and water and the buses will be required to sanitized daily. Also, the names of passengers will be recorded on a daily basis. The fare will be increased by 100 percent for private bus services.
A passenger will be required to pay almost double the fare for private bus services from June 15. Officials however stated that the increased fare is valid only till further notice. Fares will be normalized as soon as the 50 percent passenger rule becomes obsolete.
Officials of All Assam Motor Transport Company also stated that stern steps will be taken if State Government does not comply to their decision of bus fare hike.
