News Desk: In Assam, a university teacher was arrested by the police after a video went viral on social media. He was produced in a local court and was sent to judicial custody. The video featured him along with a woman in a compromising position.
The arrested person has been identified as Dhrubajit Choudhury and hailed from Pathsala in Berpeta district. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Dibrugarh University.
He was booked under Sections 294(a), 500, 506 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67(a) of the Information Technology Act.
The video went viral after it was uploaded on a porn website. In the video, he was found in a compromising state with a female. The likeness was found between the person in the video and the assistant professor.
Immediately a case was registered and his house was raided. The police seized Dhrubajit’s laptop and mobile phone.
As said by the Dibrugarh Superintendent of Police Mr. Sreejith T, upon interrogation, the accused confessed that he had filmed it and that the person in the video was he and a woman. Based on his confession, a camera was also recovered.
According to him, the video was shot Three years ago in Guwahati.
However, he confessed that the woman in the video is not a student of Dibrugarh University. It was cross-checked by the university authorities.
