The Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has begun his two days visit in Assam.
Rajnath Singh has landed Assam at 11.40 a.m. to attend a special function at the Srimanta Sankarv Kalakshetra. The special function is organized to honour war heroes of the Indo-Pak war of 1971.
The was programme scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
An award ceremony was held in the presence of the Defence Minister to honour the supreme sacrifice of soldiers who took part in 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
The Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma as well as the honourable Governor of Assam Jagdish Mukhi have also graced their presence in the function.
It is mentioned that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be visiting Assam’s Dibrugarh on April 28 and will inaugurate the Assam Medical College along with seven cancer hospitals across the state.
The Prime minister will also address a public gathering later in the day at Khanikar police reserve field.
The last visit of the Prime Minister was in March, 2021 to campaign for the BJP ahead of the Assembly Elections in Assam.
