Rapid Antigen Tests To Be Conducted Across Assam

News Desk: The Health Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that Rapid Antigen tests are being conducted across the state. This initiation is taken due to the alarming rise in the number of COVID-19 cases. Till now Rapid Antigen tests have been done in Guwahati only but from Thursday, the government will be conducting the Antigen tests all over the state.

In Assam, plasma banks have been set up for the treatment of patients. The government has called upon people of Assam as well as people from other states of the country to donate plasma to the recovering patients.

The plasma donors will be given priority in various government schemes. Plasma donation can be done only by patients who have recovered from COVID-19 and gone through intensive treatment.

A special committee of specialist doctors has been constituted to decide whether the infected person will be taken to the hospital for treatment or will be treated at home.

All nursing homes in Guwahati have been instructed to install COVID testing equipment within 15 days to prevent the spread of Coronavirus infection in nursing homes.

From now on, Diabetic patients undergoing treatment, and people above 65 years of age will be supplied with fruits worth  ₹ 100 daily. This was announced by the Health Minister of Assam in a press conference held at Janata Bhawan.

Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that till now the total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam has crossed 20,000. So far, 13,554 have recovered and a total of 7,039 are undergoing treatment. According to official reports, 50 people have succumbed due to COVID-19.

He also said that the Recovery rate of the state has increased to 65% while the Mortality rate is 0.24%.
