Renowned Educationist, Linguist Ramesh Pathak Passes Away

Renowned Assamese linguist, writer, and educationist, Dr. Ramesh Pathak passed away on Tuesday at his residence in Hatigaon, Guwahati.

He was suffering from prolonged illness.
The prominent linguist was a professor at Cotton University (Assamese Department). In 2020, he was conferred ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by Publication Board Assam.
The Assam Sahitya Sabha, in recognition of Ramesh Pathak’s contribution towards Assamese language, honored him with the title ‘Sahityacharya’.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Dr. Ramesh’s demise Twitted, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of prominent academic and linguist Dr. Ramesh Pathak.”

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also Twitted, “Deeply saddened by the demise of Dr. Ramesh Pathak. His invaluable contribution in the field of Assamese language will always be remembered.”
