Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on October 22 chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers (CoM) at the Assam Administrative Staff College (AASC), Khanapara.
The major decisions taken in the meeting are:
1. The Council of Ministers recommended the proclamation of the Governor’s rule in BTC till elections are held and also requested the State Election Commission to complete the election process in BTC by 15th December.
2. The CoM decided to provide funding to Gaushalas to fill up the gap in funds required to feed the cows.
3. The Council also decided to give ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakhs to next of kin of late Roben Das (constable) who died while apprehending cattle smugglers.
4. The CoM approved exemption of sand, steel, bitumen, and other materials to be used in the construction of the proposed Majuli bridge, from state GST, royalty, and local taxes.
5. It also approved that the Government of Assam (GoA) will bear the cost of land required for the approach roads of the proposed Majuli bridge.
