Schools, Colleges Of Assam All Set To Open From September 1st

News Desk: The Assam Government is all set to reopen schools and colleges from September 1. The government has made preliminary plans to reopen educational institutions on September 1. But, the final decision will depend on the directives of the Centre. Education Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters on August 1.

School authority must follow all the COVID-19 protocols. They must ensure maximum social distancing and initiate a shift system.
However, there will be no schools for students upto class 4. The classes of students upto class 4 will remain closed till September end.
Before the opening, all teachers and employees will have to get themselves tested. The tests will be conducted from August 23 to August 30.

For students of standard 5 to 8, the classes will be held in open spaces. Classes will be divided into 15 students each. Students of 9 to 11 will have to attend classes in their respective classes. The classes will be held for two days a week and only 15 students can attend at a time.
Students of 10 and 12 will attend classes four days a week. A maximum of 3 hours is allotted for every class shift.

For colleges, the classes will commence only for the final semester students. Students who are stranded at home and are far away from their respective colleges can attend classes in nearby colleges.
However, for post-graduate students, the decision to conduct classes in Universities will be taken by the Vice-Chancellor.
