Schools Of Assam to Re-open Partially From September 21

School, Reopen

Himanta Biswa Sarma, Education Minister of Assam on September 14 stated that schools in Assam would open from September 21. However, it will open only for classes 9 to 12. This will be done keeping in mind the Union Health Ministry’s guidelines. The students of class 9, 10, 11, and 12 can attend their respective schools from September 21. But for attending classes they will have to take written permission from their parents or guardians.

As per guidelines, only fifty percent of the teachers will attend schools from September 21. This rule is also stated by Assam Education Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Assam Education Department has come up with e-learning through several initiatives. This includes using computers and mobile applications in order to maintain the continuity of learning.
However, the students and teachers were hugely affected due to the online education system. Online education or e-learning is a new development. It is not easily available to many students who are from remote areas or from an economically poor background.

According to Himanta Biswa Sarma, the government will ensure the sanitization. However, students will have to bring their own masks. This is done to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Centre had allowed schools to partially reopen after September 21. This decision was taken during the Unlock 4.0 in August. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has adversely disrupted the nation in all aspects including the educational systems. Since March, the pandemic and lockdowns lead to the closure of schools, colleges, and universities.
