More than 65 percent of healthcare workers in Assam who were eligible for the second dose of the COVID vaccine have received the shot by Thursday. The drive for the second shot of the vaccine started on February 13.
Those who took the first shot of the vaccine in January were eligible for the second shot after 28 days. Between January 16-21, a total of 10,391 health workers were vaccinated and all of them were eligible for the second dose between February 13 and 18.
“The second dose has to be administered between 28 and 35 days of getting the first jab. Many were eligible for the second shot on February 13. For others, the eligibility date was beyond February 13. So we continued the drive for a few days beginning February 13,” Munindra Nath Ngatey, the director of health services (family welfare) said.
