State, Central Universities To Conduct Assam Government Recruitment

Tezpur University, Gauhati University

Assam government for the past few years has been hiring third-party agencies to conduct selection tests for recruitment in various departments. The state government in a bid to do away with regular scams in the state has taken the decision to conduct exams through universities across Assam.

The Assam Police SI exam scam is the most recent one that created ripple in the state raising questions on the incompetency of the state government and modus operandi of private agencies conducting these exams.

Earlier on Tuesday, Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna informed that the state government will be conducting all government job recruitment examinations other than Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) through state and central universities located in Assam.

According to official notification, Dibrugarh University will conduct recruitment tests for police, home guards, prison, panchayat and rural development.
While, Assam University at Silchar will conduct recruitment tests for Social Welfare and Soil Conservation departments.

It is informed that, Gauhati University will be conducting recruitment test for departments of Industries and Commerce, Skill Development, Transport, Excise, Forest and Environment.
Whereas, Tezpur Central University will conduct recruitment test for the Irrigation department.
This new decision is part of the state government’s new policy not to hire third-party private agencies for conducting any government recruitment process.
