News Desk: A person, identified as Sunil Roy committed suicide at Dhubri on Monday morning. Sunil Roy was in self-quarantine at Aziz Lodge in Dhubri town.
The incident took place at Aziz Lodge which is located in Dhubri town’s Ward no 7 of Bidyapara area. The deceased entered Assam through the Sagalia check gate which is adjacent to Dhubri district on June 12, was first quarantined at Sagalia gate, and stayed at the Sagalia quarantine center till June 18. He was later asked to quarantine himself at home but he was not allowed to enter his relative’s house who was staying on rent. He then decided to quarantine himself on Aziz Lodge.
On Monday, he was found hanging inside the hotel room by a hotel staff who went to serve him breakfast. Sunil Roy was a security guard in a private firm in Siliguri town in West Bengal. He returned home as his company was shut down due to the lockdown. He left behind his wife and a child, who are still at West Bengal’s Boxirhat.
According to the Dhubri Circle Officer, Joy Shankar Sharma, Sunil’s swab sample was collected on June 14 and he was tested negative in the report which came on June 17. Meanwhile, his body was taken into custody by the Dhubri District Administration and was sent for post mortem at Dhubri Civil Hospital.
