Office of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central District, Government of Assam on October 15 issued a prohibitory order under U/S 144 Cr.P.C.
The order stated that the office had received several reports that due to the situation prevailing in the area of Central Police District, Guwahati, it is likely that terrorist/ anti-social elements may seek hideouts in the residential area of the police district.
It can cause a breach of peace and disturbance in public tranquility and also a grave danger to human life and public property.
It is now necessary to put checks on landlords and tenants so that terrorists and anti-social elements in the guise of a tenant may not infiltrate. Their infiltration can cause a riot, shootout, explosion, mayhem, etc.
It is also necessary to take immediate action for the prevention of the same.
Under the Section-144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, in the exercise of powers conferred upon the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajveer, IPS made a written order that no landowner, person of any house or property which falls under the above-stated jurisdiction area shall not let any accommodation to any person unless and until he/she furnishes particles to the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the concerned Police station.
A person dealing in property business shall also inform in writing to the concerned police station.
The order came in force from October 15 and shall remain for a period of sixty days. Any person breaching the order will be punishable under U/S 188 IPC.
