Assam: Government has approved the 7th, 8th, and 9th Additions to Kaziranga National Park and published the Preliminary Notifications. It is mentionable that the additions include encroachment evicted areas and suitable wildlife habitat at riverine islands (chaporis) which were also vulnerable to encroachment. It is a move to consolidate the wildlife areas anticipating better wildlife conservation and reduction in human-wildlife negative interactions in the future.

8th addition 307 ha (Banderdubi), Nagaon District
9th addition 2570 ha (Mokua chapori), Sonitpur District.
