News Desk: Three personals were arrested in relation to the killing of Binod Rajgarh. Binod Rajgarh(25 years), son of late Basil Rajgarh was a resident of Paslogi village under Balichang Outpost of Biswanath Chariali Police Station. Binod was killed during an accidental firing in a hilltop near Khomabari village along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border on June 15,2020.
One bullet head of hand-made ammunition was found during the postmortem(PM) examination. The bullet head was duly seized.
Biswanath Chariali PS case no. 151/2020 U/S 302 IPC R/W sec. 25-1(A) Arms Act was registered and investigated.
During the investigation, it was found that Binod Rajgarh and Biswajit Daimary(Somaina, 18 years) went hunting on June 15. Two home-made rifles were provided to them by Kamal Basumatary(38 years), S/o Mangal Basumatary of Khomabari village. Biswajit Daimary is the son of Late. Deben Daimary of Paslogi village. At the place of the incident, a shot was fired accidentally by Biswajit. The bullet hit Binod, he died immediately. Biswajit then concealed one rifle about 200 Metres from the place of incident on the hilltop and came down and handed over the other rifle to Kamal Basumatary. Kamal then called Goblai Basumatary(29 years), S/o Sunil Basumatary of Paslogi village over the phone and told him to inform the Binod’s family members about his death.
Goblai Basumatary was an NDFB cadre of 35th Batch, he surrendered in 2015 after he came back from Myanmar.
During the investigation, one home-made rifle which was concealed inside bushes has been recovered in Khomabari village which was shown by Kamal Basumatary. The other rifle was recovered near the PO which was shown by Biswajit Daimary.
Also, during the search of Kamal Basumatary’s residence, the following items have been recovered:
40 nos. of Circular shaped lead pieces, 16 nos. of Lead pieces used for making ammunition (2 of half-inch length and 14 of one-inch length), 3 containers with gun powder( about 300 Grams).
Goblai Basumatary, Kamal Basumatary, and Biswajit Basumatary (Somaina) have been arrested and legal action is being taken.
The operation was led by DySp(HQ) along with OC and TSI of Biswanath Chariali PS and IC, Balichang OP.
Police also informed that there is no issue of border dispute and extremist violence in the murder case and assured that the situation is normal and under close watch.
