Assam Police on Friday night arrested three notorious criminals after an encounter at the Bala Mugkuchi area of the Nalbari district. The criminals identified as Abu Bakkar, Biju Ahmed and Rubul Hussain sustained bullet injuries.
According to the police, the criminals were involved in cattle smuggling, drug trade and other criminal activities.
Meanwhile, three other members of the gang managed to escape and a search operation for them is going on.
“Police retaliated, 3 from the gang received bullet injuries & apprehended. Search for other 3 is still on. The kingpin Abu Bakkar Siddiqui who’s a wanted criminal on charge of cattle smuggling, drug trade and other crimes is among the nabbed,” Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta wrote in a tweet.
