News Desk: On Thursday, 2 more persons succumbed to death due to the COVID-19 in Assam. With the death of the two persons, the death toll of Assam rose to 14. The two-person who died are both male patients aged 78 and 56.
Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the death of the two COVID-19 patients through his official tweeter page.
In his Tweet, he said, “With heavy heart, I share this with you—We’ve lost two precious to the pandemic. My prayers and condolences are with the families.”
In another tweet, the Health Minister said that on Thursday, a total of 275 patients had recovered and were discharged from the various district, civil and model hospitals of Assam.
In a recent update, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Assam is 9,434. Out of which a total of 6,106 people recovered and were discharged. Meanwhile, 95 police personnel have been tested COVID-19 positive and a total of 19 police personnel have recovered so far. A total of 1,112 police personnel are under quarantine.
Till Wednesday, Assam is ranked 14th in Absolute Number in Terms of Recoveries. Till now, Assam has conducted about 4,28,886 COVID-19 tests, out of which 1,09,363 are outsourced.
Assam on Thursday got a major boost in its COVID-19 testing facilities as the state received 2 Lakh Rapid Point of Care Antigen Detection Test kits.
