On Tuesday, an under-construction roof at Assam’s Bongaigaon railway station collapsed, injuring at least eight workers. Three of the total injured are in critical condition.
The critically injured have been transferred to a private hospital for treatment. “Eight labourers got injured after an under-construction roof collapsed at Bongaigaon railway station yesterday .” Bongaigaon SP Swapnaneel Deka told the media.
The incident occurred around 5.45 p.m. when the overhead shed collapsed while a group of labourers were working beneath it, according to Bongaigaon Superintendent of Police Swapnaneel Deka.
“The overhead shed lost balance while being fitted. Altogether eight labourers have been injured. The condition of three is serious and they have been admitted to a private hospital, while the remaining five are undergoing treatment in the civil hospital” Deka told the reporters.
Tribeni Constructions was performing the work on a contract basis, and no company officials were present during the accident, according to SP.
