UPPL Chief Pramod Bodo was sworn in as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Tuesday at a function held at Greenland, Bodofa Nagar in Kokrajhar.
Meanwhile, the former National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) leader Govindo Basumatary was sworn in as the Deputy-CEM.
Bodo took oath in the presence of Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal, North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor and Assam minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma along with other dignitaries.
Pramod Bodo, the former president of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) took the oath in Bodo language.
During the oath-taking ceremony, the new BTC chief Pramod Bodo said that he will work for the people of the region.
In the recently concluded BTC elections, the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) won 17 seats while UPPL got 12. The BJP which managed to bag only one seat in the last elections increased its tally to nine this time.
Congress and Gana Suraksha Parishad could manage one seat each.
