A terrible incident took place at Namrup, Dibrugarh district. A youth was brutally thrashed by the kin of the girl with whom he has been in a love relationship for a long time.
The youth identified as Bishnu Bag was beaten to death by the girl’s family after he went to meet his love.
Later, the boy was taken to Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh in a serious state but was declared brought dead upon reaching the hospital.
Following the news of the youth’s death, the police apprehended the girl along with his family members who were allegedly involved in the attack. The arrested persons have been identified as Binoy Gowalla, Shiv Gowalla, Kulu Gowalla, and the girl’s mother.
It may be mentioned that the girl’s family had rejected the love relationship of the two and hence the two young lovers had to continue to the relationship in hiding. The boy and girl both belonged to the same tea estate.
