Attempted Trafficking Foiled, Eight minors among 37 people rescued

At least 37 people, including eight minors, have been rescued in two separate busting of attempted human trafficking. The police said three persons, including a woman, have been arrested in these connections.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued 15 people, including six minors, on Tuesday from platform no 2 of Rangia Railway Station while they were being taken to Mumbai, Maharashtra. The six minors are from Bindukuri near Tezpur.
A lady, who hails from Deka Chuburi, Tezpur under Sonitpur district, was arrested in this connection and she was produced before SDJM Court. The Court forwarded the woman to Nalbari Jail. During their cross-questioning, the rescued people informed the police that they were being promised jobs in a fish packaging company in Mumbai by the alleged woman.
Meanwhile, a team of state policemen rescued 22 people from Baksa while they were being taken to Gujarat on Monday. The police have arrested two persons in this connection. Assam Police stated that the rescued people included 15 men, seven women, and two minors.

As recently as last week, the Assam Police had rescued nine girls who were trafficked to Kerala and had arrested two persons in this regard.
