Former Assam Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhumidhar Barman breathed his last at Dispur Hospital in Guwahati on Sunday .
The veteran Congress leader was earlier admitted to the ICU of Dispur Hospital due to ailments on account of old age. He was 89 years old.
An Indian National Congress (INC) leader, Bhumidhar Barman was elected as the Chief Minister of Assam from 22 April 1996 to 14 May 1996.
The veteran congressman was elected seven times as a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly. The leader was elected for the first time in 1967 and was made Cabinet Minister of the state in 2015.
