Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday has announced former Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) leader Biswajit Daimary as its candidate for the bye-elections to one of Rajya Sabha seats from Assam.
The former BPF leader resigned as Rajya Sabha MP on November 21. The leader joined BJP party following his resignation.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge will be replacing Ghulam Nabi Azad as the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
Ghulam Nabi Azad became a Rajya Sabha member in 1990 from Maharashtra but in 1996, shifted to his home state, Jammu and Kashmir.
