Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dipanjali Kakati on Saturday morning has been arrested in Tinsukia from her residence.

The suspended BJP leader was arrested for assaulting a police officer.
According to CCTV footage, Dipanjali Kakati physically assaulted a police officer on duty. The incident took place inside Kakopathar Police Station.
She has been booked under Section 332 of the IPC, a non-bailable offense.

As per reports, Dipanjali physically assaulted Apurba Das, a sub-inspector of the Kakopathar Police Station.
Kakati was a former member of the Moran Autonomous Council and executive member of the state BJP committee.
Assam BJP party after the incident suspended Kakati. Soon a complaint was registered last year against her.
The FIR was registered at Kakopathar Police Station on November 8.
The suspended BJP leader filed a pre-arrest bail, however, it remained canceled
