#CancelAssamBoardExams Storms Twitter with Over 1.2 Million Tweets

Amid the second wave of Covid 19 pandemic, microblogging site Twitter storm broke out on Sunday with Tweets of students demanding cancellation of Class 10 exam under State Education Board of Assam.
Tweets of #CancelAssamBoardExams stormed the microblogging site which led to over 1.2 million Tweets till Sunday evening.

Several states have canceled or deferred their state board examinations.
Meanwhile, at least eleven states have canceled their examinations which include –
• Gujarat,
• Madhya Pradesh,
• Uttarakhand,
• Uttar Pradesh,
• Rajasthan,
• Haryana,
• Karnataka,
• Maharashtra.
However, Assam is yet to take a final call on whether examinations will be held or not.
In the last five days, there have been protests on Twitter and other microblogging sites in connection to the cancellation of exams.
It needs to be mentioned that the HSLC and HS examinations were scheduled to begin on May 11 but were postponed due to the prevailing Covid situation of the state.

Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on Saturday stated that the HSLC and HS exam will be held after the COVID situation improves in the state.
The minister informed that HSLC and HS examination is likely to be held if Covid 19 cases in Assam reduce by 1percent.
Meanwhile, welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to cancel CBSE Class 12 exams, State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also assured that a decision on class 12 board exams will be taken after CBSE announces evaluation criteria for assessing the students.
