CM HBS reviews Execution of Irrigation & Soil Conservation Dept. Projects

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday held a joint meeting with the Irrigation and Soil Conservation Departments.

In the meeting, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the implementation of various projects of Irrigation as well as Soil Conservation Departments.
State Irrigation Minister Ashok Singhal and Soil Conservation Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma were also present during the review meeting.

During the meeting, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma issued important directives

The important directives are –
1. Irrigation Department to propose two big projects to irrigate a total of One lakh hectare land in the shortest possible time.

2. Avoid multiple contractors against one project and foreclose all long pending incomplete projects.
3. Make territorial divisions within 10 days to reduce delay in projects as multiple executive engineers work in the same project.

4. Explore possibilities of a big power-cum-irrigation project on Kulsi river.
5. Assess demand for gully protection and protective irrigation projects.
