Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday reviewed the functioning of the State Agriculture Department.
The state CM issued several directives and instructions to rejuvenate the agriculture sector of Assam.
The review meeting was held at the CM office in Janata Bhawan.
Decisions taken at the meeting –
• Transfer of all Agriculture Extension Officers who have served over three years in one place.
• Formation of a special committee in the model of Sarva Shiksha Mission or National Health Mission (NHM) for the overall development of the agricultural sector.
• Himanta Biswa Sarma has also directed authorities to take immediate action against irregularities in fertilizer supply.

• CM HBS also suggested steps for a comprehensive survey to assess the scenario of agricultural produce in 3,000 Gram Panchayats (GPs) and VCDCs involving the students of Assam Agricultural University, Dibrugarh University, and Gauhati University.

• Ensure the supply of quality seeds to farmers of the state. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed the department to procure seeds directly from the seeds corporation of the best seed-producing states.
• HBS has also directed DCs to make the PM-Kisan beneficiary list error-free.
• Increase in export of the in-demand produces such as Assam Lemon, pumpkin, etc.

The meeting was also attended by Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Minister Atul Bora and other senior officials of the Agriculture department.
