Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday laid the foundation stone of ‘Nature Park’ at the campus of Assam Khadi & Village Industries Board at Hengrabari in Guwahati.
Minister Ashok Singhal, MP Queen Oja, MLA Atul Bora were present on the occasion.
It is said to have a children’s playing area, nursery, watchtower, cafeteria, meditation center, etc in the park. The park will be built by GMDA on 14 Bigha land with a total cost of Rs 11.93 crore. A piece of good news for the residents of Guwahati as there will be a new escape zone from the monotonous hustle and bustle of city life. Chief Minister said that the park will provide a recreational area and ample free space for the general public.
He further added his intentions of setting a park at Chandmari on 26 bigha land by shifting the Irrigation and Water Resource Dept buildings to Dispur.
He informed that the construction work would be soon started by setting up Botanical Garden at the old jail campus at Fancy Bazar while another park is being built at the Maligoan Housing Board site.
He also said that steps would be taken to free lands from encroachers at Srishti Nagar, Amchung, etc.
